History

St. Elizabeth TV & Appliance opened for business in October of 1955 by Victor A Wilde Sr. The first items available for sale were three black and white Motorola televisions, and several small radios. The price of the televisions ran from $89 to $459. The business was only open from 6pm to 9pm. For several years they operated across from the church in St. Elizabeth. Victor started to add appliances in the fall of 1956. In 1958 they were approached by a salesman from Jefferson City to buy and sell their furniture, after further research Victor and wife La Verne purchased the furniture. Their first open house resulted in 5 sales of the same living room suite, same color and style. In 1959 they purchased the land they reside on currently, at this point they changed store hours to 8:00am to 6:00pm everyday and open late on Friday nights. In April 1974 Victor Sr. became ill and passed away. He was and still is deeply missed by the family. At that time La Verne was still caring for her 9 children; she managed to balance that with running the business. Her sons Charlie & Victor Wilde took on their roles and were determined to succeed. St. Elizabeth TV & Appliance has been family owned and operated since 1955. Currently there are 3 generations of employees working. Victor Wilde’s daughter Megan Wilde Wright joined the business in July of 2004. Megan has taken over roll of Office Manager in St. Elizabeth. Victor’s son Justin Wilde joined the business in June of 2006 he works alongside Charlie as a Flooring Installation Specialist. St. Elizabeth TV & Appliance offers its customers furniture, flooring, appliances, Dish Network, DIRECTV, mattress sets, grills, and window treatments. La Verne, Charlie, Victor, Megan, and Justin would like to thank all of their customers for their business, and promise to continue their family tradition of providing and servicing quality home furnishings.
